New Life in the Middle East

When Amir* awoke after his third suicide attempt, he could never have anticipated the restoration that was to come. The Lord had seen the depths of his pain. He brought Amir out of what had been a pit of despair and set his feet upon a rock (Ps. 40:2).

Amir came to know this God of life, and, as a new believer, he longed to share this hope with others in his country in the Middle East.* How many lives could the gospel save? How could God use him to restore all things?

He found answers to his questions and a vision for a world redeemed and transformed by the gospel in his Haggai Leader Experience: “Through Haggai’s training, I became convinced that the training and qualifying of others for service is fundamental. As a result, my ministry has only expanded.”

Amir returned home and started prayer groups in nearby cities to identify and equip future leaders for the region’s burgeoning church. As a researcher for education in his country, this Haggai leader now puts his professional expertise into practice as he disciples new believers … believers like Muhammad.* Muhammad was only 14 when he found saving faith in Christ. But persecution from his family was swift.

His family hired people to watch his every move. He was subject to physical and verbal abuse. As a teen, Muhammad was tempted to leave school and run away countless times, yet endured every obstacle with Amir’s constant encouragement and intentional mentorship. He stayed in school, resisted false teachings, and matured in his walk with Christ.

“He was steadfast in the faith in a wonderful way after experiencing the truth of the Lord in Christianity,” Amir shares of Muhammad. “His prayers were answered several times, and he began to testify the faith to his friends at school wisely and effectively.”

Muhammad is one of countless young men in the Middle East whose lives are undergoing Christ’s restoration through Amir’s witness. This ripple effect is the power of the Haggai Leader Experience. Strong leaders equip strong leaders. And the good news of Jesus is restoring lives, communities, and nations.
