From Courtrooms to Prison Walls
Manila never stops moving. Its streets are a blur — crowds navigating the ins and outs of the world’s most densely populated metropolis, chasing hard-earned success and recognition. Like in any fast-paced city, the noise of the cityscape often prevents Filipinos from hearing or responding to the promptings of Jesus, and the demands of each day threaten to drown out their souls’ need for a Savior.
Even Aleth, a devoted Christian, found it difficult to pursue and proclaim Jesus as the managing partner of her law firm. However, her participation in the Haggai Leader Experience (HLE) was a turning point, enabling her to prioritize Christ and his mission amid her ambitions and Manila’s activity.
“[My HLE] gave me a clear goal on how to use my profession to further the gospel,” Aleth shared, “I was inspired to be intentional and creative in making opportunities for people to know the Good News.”
As a Haggai leader, Aleth now finds opportunities for God’s restoration everywhere: in courtrooms, around dinner tables, on her commute, and even within prison walls. No moment of her life is too busy or mundane to usher in Jesus’ message of redemption.
When Aleth steps out her door in the morning, she greets street sweepers and samlors (tricycle drivers), often overlooked by passersby, with breakfast and faith conversations. Before trial, she prays with her weary clients as they fight for justice. And over lunch, she equips her Christian coworkers to do the same.
Through Aleth’s intentional approach, she’s seeing God’s Word transcend typical environments. Aleth recently partnered with a local Filipino prison ministry and now proclaims the gospel to inmates who are participating in mentorship programs. She’s witnessed entire rooms of lost souls receive Christ and welcome his restoration of all things!
“These [prisoners] are the sheep that Jesus was talking about. They, too, deserve to be set free spiritually through the gospel of the Lord.”
Before her HLE, Aleth’s primary focus was on her career. During her HLE, she witnessed the power of seizing everyday moments with the heart of Jesus.
Now, she enters each day looking for ways to creatively share the hope within her, not underestimating that seemingly simple and mundane situations can have an impact for eternity.
