Senior Director of Institutional Giving

Position Summary

The Senior Director of Institutional Giving is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive institutional fundraising plan to support the organization’s mission and strategic goals. This individual will cultivate and steward relationships with key institutional funders, identify and pursue new funding opportunities, and lead the institutional giving team to achieve ambitious revenue targets. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the philanthropic landscape, a proven track record of securing major gifts, and a strong commitment to the values and mission of Haggai International.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive institutional fundraising strategy aligned with the organization’s strategic plan and financial needs.
    • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress towards fundraising goals.
    • Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to the institutional giving team.
    • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and prioritize funding needs.
  • Fundraising and Relationship Management
    • Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with foundations, corporations, and other institutional funders.
    • Develop and submit compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and other fundraising materials.
    • Conduct thorough research to identify new funding opportunities.
    • Represent the organization at funder meetings, and conferences.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions and proposals.
  • Team Management and Development
    • Lead, mentor, and motivate the institutional giving team to achieve revenue targets.
    • Provide professional development opportunities to team members.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment.
    • Manage team budget and resources effectively.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in fundraising.
  • Reporting and Compliance
    • Prepare regular reports on fundraising progress and activities for senior leadership.
    • Ensure compliance with all funder reporting requirements and ethical fundraising standards.
    • Maintain accurate and organized records of all grant agreements and related documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in institutional fundraising, with a proven track record of securing major gifts.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of the philanthropic landscape and best practices in institutional giving.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to develop compelling grant proposals and presentations.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with institutional funders.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and other fundraising tools.
  • Understanding of grant management, budgeting and reporting.
  • Passion for the mission of Haggai International and a commitment to Christian values.

Compensation and Conditions

  • Salary based. Commensurate with experience and productivity.
  • Benefits as described in the Employee Handbook (subject to change as the need arises). • Location: Major city, close to a major airport.
  • Travel: 20% – 30% overnight travel required.
