Faith in the Face of Fear
Rohan* works as a software consultant in an Asian country where there are laws in place that prevent or prohibit the conversion from one religion to another. While these laws are meant to prevent forced religious conversions and deter religious groups from recruiting members from other religions, the broad and vague language that is used can sometimes target individuals who have changed voluntarily.
Rohan sees these laws as one of the greatest hurdles to sharing the Gospel in his community. There is the very real threat of retribution in the form of monetary penalties or imprisonment that creates a spirit of fear. Despite this, Rohan remains steadfast in his prayers for opportunities to share the Good News, saying, “God will be faithful to answer our prayers.”
He encourages those he mentors to “keep a list of friends and family in your sphere of influence that you are praying for. As you pray for them, ask for opportunities to share the Gospel with them and the members of their family. Use every opportunity; social media, time spent traveling, or visiting new friends to share the Good News.”
Rohan is like a modern-day Paul, traveling from state to state visiting churches and networking with pastors. He collaborates and partners with them to go to hard-to-reach areas to share the Gospel and encourage new believers. He says, “God leads us to different places and ministers to the people through us. We are seeing many people come forward to ask for healing prayer. May God give us many more opportunities like this to advance his Kingdom.”
