Fingerprints of Purpose: A Distinct Life
We’ve all heard it before: No two fingerprints are alike. Even identical twins, who share nearly everything, have distinct fingerprints.
A fingerprint is more than just a mark—it’s a tiny, unique reflection of who you are. And everywhere we go, we leave our fingerprints—on the things we touch, the people we hold, the doors we open, and the world within our reach.
But fingerprints aren’t just physical. They are also a testament to the intentionality of God’s design for each of us. As the Book of Luke reminds us, “Even the hairs of your head are all numbered.” God has a specificity for all of creation, particularly for those who choose to follow Jesus. Ephesians 2:10 reinforces this: “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
So how do we walk in this design? How do we bring our faith to life in the unique places we inhabit?
Scripture outlines behaviors and disciplines that allow us to step into God’s design—prayer, time in scripture, a posture of humility and grace, and a commitment to living out our faith through both words and deeds. Loving our neighbor is not just a command—it’s an opportunity to bring our faith into proximity, to have an impact where we may be specifically suited to do so.
At Haggai International, the influence of our leaders reaches across the globe. Haggai leaders make a lasting impact in their communities and countries by demonstrating and presenting the gospel in diverse ways—feeding the hungry, mentoring and empowering youth, planting churches in remote villages, and bringing the message of Jesus to places where Christianity is uncommon or, in some cases, illegal.
Yet each of us—me, the writer, and you, the reader—must ask, “Lord, where would you have me leave my fingerprints?” And once we ask, we must equip ourselves with the truth of his word as we stand firmly in our faith amid the realities of our lives.
We must remain attuned to the Holy Spirit’s prompting as we engage with our families and communities, workplaces and places of worship, and in all areas where we have influence. Our charge is clear: Steward our lives in a way that leaves a lasting, eternal imprint—bringing fingerprints of hope and restoration to the lives we touch and beyond.
Jesus commissions us to “go and make disciples of all nations.” A question we need to ask ourselves is not just how far we are willing to go, but whether we are prepared to do so.
Ask the Lord where he is leading you. Then ask yourself, “Am I ready to take the next step?”
And when the time comes, step forward in the confidence of Christ—and leave your fingerprints on the lives of others.
