From Fiji to the World

The apostle Paul reminds the Church in I Corinthians 3:6-9 that “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.”

What is the singular purpose that the one who plants and the one who waters have in common? The answer is simple and according to a local ministry, the answer is found in their mission statement — written in all caps: NO ONE SHALL PERISH. Haggai leader Kelevi Ratumainaceva Noca Bulivou is the founder of New Horizon Grace and Faith Ministries South Pacific, on the second largest of the Fiji islands, called Vanua Levu.

Taking Jesus’ last command seriously, Kelevi and his co-laborers are going into their part of the world, making disciples, and baptizing them in the name of Jesus (Matthew 28:19). In a decade, from 2008 until 2018, his team saw 3,000 people commit their lives to Christ; 2,000 recommit their lives to Him; more than 2,000 baptized; and 15 new churches planted.

Taking Jesus’ last command seriously, Kelevi is sharing the Gospel throughout Fiji.

While some things may have slowed down during the pandemic, the Lord’s work clearly has not. From 2019 through 2021 and through this team, the beautiful island of Vanua Levu has seen 500 people say “yes” to Jesus and 16 new churches planted. This is what it means to make an impact on ending Gospel poverty. And those numbers are a glorious part of the ministry’s goal for the next decade of planting 50 churches by 2029.

From 2019 through 2021 Kelevi, has seen 500 commitments to Christ and 16 new churches planted.

Kelevi will be the first to say that it is the Lord who is making the increase, and his Haggai equipping has been a key part of his ministry.

“We are so grateful to the Father for leading the way and for increasing His Kingdom here on earth. My Haggai equipping truly helped me know how to better steward the abilities and talents God has blessed me with — in order to make a positive impact for Him. And I do look forward to continuing my part of His plan to see all come to a saving knowledge of Jesus.”

May this be a goal for the new year for each of us! What is your part is in the Great Commission? In the words of Paul to the Church at Rome: “How, then, can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’” (Romans 10:14-15). For some, our mission is to send, others to preach or share, and others to go. But all can trust the Lord to make the seeds grow.
