God Had a Plan for Me

Over 60% of Zambia’s population lives in poverty, and that number is growing. Families are surviving on less than $2 per day.

Growing up in a poor family was incredibly challenging. Every day, I walked 6 miles to and from school, often on an empty stomach. School days were long, and I survived on very little food. I almost dropped out of school just before my final certification exam because I didn’t have a shirt to wear for the test. But God had a plan for me. He hadn’t given up on me; He provided a sister in the Lord who gave me her shirt to wear for the rest of high school. What a relief that was!

This verse in Hosea reminds me of that experience and how God prepares a way for us despite all the challenges we face.

“I led them with cords of kindness, with the bands of love, and I became to them as one who eases the yoke on their jaws, and I bent down to them and fed them” (Hosea 11:4).

Often, God sends someone to help us, leading us with cords of human kindness and ties of love. Today, pray with me that followers of Jesus will not lose sight of God’s faithfulness and provision when faced with this world’s temporal setbacks.
