Integrity and Vulnerability Lead the Way

Colombia is a conglomeration of new and old, from modern metropolitan cities to rural communities. Tradition exists alongside innovation and the Gospel washes the feet of both executives and coffee farmers. It’s a country in transition, with a violent history with cartels related to the drug trade. Additionally, refugees often seek asylum in Colombia. More than 1.8 million from Venezuela have fled into the country, which has placed a strain on its resources and local communities.

Haggai leader and businessman Daniel helps clients design, build, and implement strategies for digital business transformation and sustainable development and growth.

It is in this challenging setting where Haggai leader Daniel Ramirez seeks to spread the Gospel. “Education, legislation, and globalization trends are pushing people far away from spiritual life, truth, and everything related to the figure of God,” he says. But, fueled by his Haggai Leader Experience and seeing the Holy Spirit at work, he is confident in his mission.

Daniel’s calling takes shape both in the business sector, through teaching and equipping professionals, and in his personal life, through involvement in his church. For Daniel, spreading the Gospel has meant “being vocal in the faith convictions, principles, and values” that sustain him and sharing what Jesus represents in his life.

For the past eight years, Daniel has taught his course, Disciplina e integridad del líder para evangelizar (or, “Discipline and Integrity of the Leader to Evangelize”) to more than 300 leaders from different communities and regions of Colombia.

Recently, after hearing Daniel speak on integrity and leadership in the workplace, a bank executive was inspired to transform the way he manages his employees. Daniel helped him develop a seminar for the bank’s first and second-tier management teams around the same topic.

“Through that [seminar], several of the attendees heard and knew about the Gospel and the good promises and blessings that God has for the ones who not only accept and follow Him but also obey His word and teachings.”

A few years ago, Daniel remembers seeing a suffering childhood friend accept Christ. Daniel actively stepped in to meet his friend’s needs, being transparent and sharing about his own journey to God.

An active member of World Vision Colombia’s Advisory (WVC) Board, Daniel contributes to building and implementing different strategies and actions to mitigate the needs of the most vulnerable, making sure that the Gospel is at the core foundation of every action WVC does.

“By being close to my friend over several weeks, I had the chance to share with him what God had made in my life, how He helped and supported me during hard times as I dealt with issues like anxiety and depression,” he says. “By [being] vulnerable and sensitive about his situation, I was able to invite him to accept Jesus in his life and begin to attend our church.”

Later, his friend’s wife became a Christian, and today they’re praying for their children to know God. As Daniel says, “The seed has been planted…”

Daniel visited the Haggai International headquarters in Atlanta this summer, sharing with the team all that God is doing within Haggai Colombia.

Daniel has become an example of the Holy Spirit at work through Haggai’s unique approach to equipping leaders to share the Gospel in their contexts. “Haggai’s equipping has been instrumental in how I intentionally address all that I do in one way or another to the ultimate purpose of working in helping others to know and follow Jesus. That’s my passion.”
