Mentoring Others Helps Reach Many with the Gospel
“One of the visions God impressed on me during my equipping through the Virtual Haggai Leader Experience was to reach out to more communities in my area,” shares Katrina Solarta. Living in Tacloban City, Philippines, she has done just that and her influence there has led her to the neighboring cities of Leyte and Samar.
Katrina has helped jumpstart the local Haggai alumni association, leading Christians to become more involved in several towns near her. It takes only one person to get the ball rolling, so to speak — one person who loves Jesus and wants to see the cycle of Gospel poverty come to an end.
Proprietor and wedding planner may be her job title at K. Passion Events and Organizing Services, but her role goes much deeper.
“As a wedding planner, I serve my clients with passion and excellence and grab every opportunity to share Jesus with them by praying, sharing God’s Word, encouraging, and listening. I try to present and demonstrate the Gospel through discipleship and friendship.”
Through one-on-one mentoring, and taking care to listen well, she also equips fellow Christians to share the Gospel. She also recommends and sends other believers to Haggai national seminars.
“I disciple a group of women, and one lost both parents during a recent super typhoon. The opportunity to reconnect and influence her came when she needed life insurance know-how. From there, our relationship blossomed into her consistently attending our small group, which eventually led her to attend a national seminar. Now she is the young adult coordinator at our church, allowing me to transition from that role.”
Likewise, a teacher who belonged to a different church needed someone to disciple her, and Katrina was recommended. This teacher began attending Katrina’s small group and became interested in learning how to lead one.
“A regular coaching relationship ensued. With the deepening of her commitment to sharing the Gospel, by God’s grace, I convinced her to attend a national seminar. Now she will assist me in mobilizing Haggai alumni to get more involved in our city and nearby cities, to help end Gospel poverty.”
