Sharing Love in Egypt
In the Gospel of John, we read about Jesus hanging out with a group of Jewish believers. He was encouraging them to stand fast in His Word and as they did this, they would know how to live. Jesus explains, “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32 ESV).
This is something Haggai leader Darius* has learned. The message of the Gospel is simple. When you follow it, you gain liberty that you didn’t even know you needed. He shares, “I created a way to demonstrate the truths of the Christian faith in a very simple way. I use this to help other Christians learn how to share the Gospel. And I use this method to help non-Christians see their need for a Savior.
“I use the Word to share the truth about the initial sin — that of Eve — and then help them see how the sin in their lives has negatively affected them, as well. It has separated them from God and created a chasm that only Jesus, through His shed blood, can cross.”
The first time that Darius shared the simple truth of the Gospel at a church meeting, his pastor told him, “Everyone in attendance said it was the first time they understood that truth in such a meaningful way.”
Now he has a PowerPoint presentation with lessons broken down to share the fundamentals of the Christian faith. At a church in Egypt, Darius has the responsibility of teaching these basics to the new members. He shares, “I also plan events for unbelievers to attend, to show them our love and start building those bridges with them. I have found that love is the easiest way to reach others. And the beginning is always with those around you in the circle closest to you.”
Being a part of Haggai has blessed Darius by helping him better understand ways to reach the poor and uneducated in his city. And it has motivated him to continue in his quest to share the simple truths of the Gospel, including what forgiveness really means.
A mechanical engineer in Egypt, Darius manages a team of people. His wife continues to encourage him to live as “one who is in love with Jesus.” Darius was raised in a Christian family, but it was not until he met his wife that he truly understood these basics of belief. These simple truths set a person free.
